Below we have tried
to answer some Frequently Asked Questions:
I’ve never done a Martial Art before,
so how do I know if it’s for me?
You don’t know
until you try, that’s why we offer free lessons to help you decide.
I’m not very fit/flexible so will I
be able to join in?
Taekwon-Do
training builds over time, so as your fitness improves so do the challenges of
the class.
How many Instructors are there?
At Swindon
Taekwondo we have 3 qualified Instructors and 2 qualified assistant
Instructors. All Instructors are CRB checked and are first aid qualified, we
also have public liability insurance.
How often can I train?
To start with
classes are one hour, twice per week at the Haydon Centre.
What equipment will I need to train?
To start with you
will need just a pair of track suit bottoms and a T-shirt. Once you have
decided to join you will get your training Suit (Dobuk). After three to six months
you will then need to purchase sparring safety equipment.
Is it dangerous?
Any Martial Art
has risks, but we have trained instructors and have carried out health and
safety risk assessments, as a result Taekwon-do is a low risk activity.
Do I have to sign a contract or
Direct Debit mandate?
We do not use a
contract based fee system; fees are paid monthly by cheque. We want you to
train because you like to and not because you are financially committed to.
Is there a joining fee?
You pay a joining
fee which includes a suit (Dobuk) with a white belt, a Licence (including
annual Insurance cover)
and one months
training, you will thereafter pay a monthly fee to train. Family reductions
apply.
What ages do you teach?
Students
aged 9 and over will be considered on an individual basis, there is no upper
age limit as everybody has different capabilities.
When can I grade?
We hold coloured
belt gradings approximately every 3 months.
When can I come along?
New students are welcome at the Haydon Centre every
Monday and Thursday.
Can we
train with our children?
Taekwon-Do is a
great family activity, but parents be warned children often pick techniques up
quicker than you so they might surpass you to start with.
