TaeKwon-Do training includes:

 

Floor work: various hand and leg blocks/sweeps/strikes performed in the lines.

Patterns: sequences of attack and defence against an imaginary opponent enabling full power techniques.

 

 

 

Self-defence: releases, locks and counter strikes to practice so that they become instinctive reactions.

Set sparring: varying degrees of set moves which enable the student to develop reactions, timing, distancing and focus.

 

 

Free sparring: semi-contact sparring with protective equipment worn, in tournaments this is TaeKwonDo’s sporting side.

Breaking: adults perform breaking techniques on boards designed to break when correct technique and power is applied.

Pad work: kick shields and pads are used to enable full power kicking and punching.

Exercises & Stretching: Various Warm-up exercises and stretches to tone the body and prevent injury.
